Since
July 2006, the EU WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic
Equipment) and RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances)
directives have required manufacturers to monitor levels of
specified toxic materials in their products and processes.
Key
restricted substances include: lead, mercury, cadmium,
hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls (PBB) and
polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE). Additional heavy metals,
and materials such as polyvinyl chloride (PVC), are subject to
increasingly tighter regulation by environmental agencies
worldwide.
XRF
spectrometry has proven to be an ideal and cost-effective
solution for the qualitative and quantitative analysis of regulated
materials. Calmetrics is pleased to offer certified XRF calibration
reference standards for WEEE/RoHS compliance testing.
Currently
available WEEE/RoHS-optimized standard sets are listed
below. Please contact Calmetrics
applications engineering for
additional information and standards.
